The Most Important Rule about Spell work is....
The Most Important rule for doing spell work is to remember NOT to talk about what you have done! It is the hardest rule to follow. The reason one does not discuss with anyone (not your significant other, brother or best friend), is that it diminishes the effectiveness of the spell work! I even have trouble with this rule, but I try to stick to it.
It is a common human trait, to want to brag, or even tell someone about our accomplishments. When spell work goes well, people tend to like to talk about their success! One might feel that after the spell has had it's effect that it is ok to talk about it, but it is not. Spells are an ongoing process, and to talk about it at any time diminishes the long term effects. Long after the fact, if you happen to mention it, it will probably be ok, unless the spell is meant to have a long term affect.
Especially, when doing enemy works, Never talk about it. If you were going to beat someone up, you wouldn't warn them that you were going to hit them, now would you? Same thing with magic. People talk, it's what we do. If you tell one person, they tell another, etc, and then the person you are trying to curse finds out and counters it or worse, hits you back. Plus, it especially deteriorates the magics effectiveness, when you talk about the cursing work you are about to do.
The other most important rule is that you never look back when you are delivering works. To look back, gives the energies the impression that you want that energy to follow or effect you. Like you second guess your self, or are unsure about what you are doing. That is bad! Especially if you are trying to get rid of something. Don't look back, towards the past, in your living life, and don't look back when delivering magical works!
I have even accidentally looked back when delivering a work, by accident, and I got messed up from it! I had the energies from the work, doubled back and hit me, instead of the target. Needless to say, I was not happy! Mind these two rules, and you'll be ok. It is the basis of every magical system!
