Cauldron Basics

Let's start off with the very basics and work our way out from there.  Well for starts most traditional cauldrons are cast-iron. ..but one's cauldron doesn't have to be. ..it could be made out of clay...brass. ..metal. .soapstone. ..stone in general..I've even seen cast-iron tea pots as one...basically anything that is bowl shaped...or can hold liquids in and be able to burn stuff in will do.  It is a transformational tool.  It takes what ever you put into it....churns it up and sends it out to wherever you send it.

I would not put things like crystals in it to charge because it is like a black hole that sucks the energy out of whatever you put in it and sends it out to where you designate.   I stupidly put a charged crystal into my cauldron once thinking it would super charge it and instead it started to drain it.  Needless to say I was pissed and Never did that again!

So if you chose to go and get a cast-iron pot....think about it...it is cast-iron. ..iron rusts when it comes in contact with water...you could season it like you would a pan...it wouldn't hurt it....I personally Do Not brew potions in my pot nor use it as an Incense burner!   Now if one wanted powerful rusty water...per say for war water (hoodoo recipe), all you would have to obviously do is leave the water in there and pray your intent over it...etc I've heard of practitioners doing this to make war water!

I in and of the least, the most basic 101 care for my cauldron Always after every use take oil and rub the inside and out down with a thin coating before I put it away!!!!!  That is the most important thing to do to preserve the tool and keep it working properly.
I would ONLY use non evasive,  non cerosive natural natural essential diluted oils or just plain old olive oil will do.  Personally,  I have concocted personalized oils for my deities,  and I wipe the pot down with those but in my humble beginnings olive oil that I prayed over was more than fine.  Do Not use alot of oil....just enough to coat the surface. ..think about it besides it being cast-iron and can rust even if yous is not iron...this should still be done because it is a creature of water....it is a womb. ..a vessel etc...it's element is water and so it should be kept lubricated. ...like a woman's womb is kept lubricated!   That goes for all types of cauldrons in my opinion.

Now remember not to slather on ten layers of oil...a thin coat will do!  Having some sort of lid if it didn't come with one is handy to!  After burning candle work ...a packet...fire or whatever you left smoldering in there...it is handy to put a lid on it but not a must have.  One should put some kind of plate or coaster under it especially if it is metal cause when you burn stuff in it....it will obviously get hot and either burn through your altar cloth and probably leave marks on your table!  Had that happen to me back in the early days...ahhhh young and stupid days.

I have a cauldron on every altar Including my Ancestors altar!  It is the one tool least talked about properly and most under recognized!   I do Almost all of my candle magic in it...except for novenas...but when I can afford a bigger cauldron. ..cause they are expensive. ..I will do that in there too!  Or if I have to do a multiple candle work or a moving candle spell....are the only times I don't work with the cauldron!  Well I don't want to write too long of a blog...so there will be more to come...later!
